“Engineering DIY Competition: Powering The Climate For A Safer Future”

Universiti Putra Malaysia, 43400 Serdang, Selangor, Malaysia. Universiti Putra Malaysia, 43400 Serdang, Selangor

The PES Day Event that will be organized is "Engineering DIY Competition - Powering a Climate Safer Future!". This is basically a DIY (Do It Yourself) competition that allows the participants to come out with useful, innovative and creative ideas and make them into reality by using recycled items or green materials. The main objective of organizing this event is to instill the sense of responsibility of protecting the nature and reducing the waste of resources among university students as well as the community. This can achieved by allowing the participants to figure out the way to use recycled items in developing a new product that is usable. In this way, the values of recycled items can be felt by the participants.

Powering a Climate Safer Future

South China University of Technology, Guangzhou City, China South China University of Technology,, Guangzhou City

The theme of the 6th IEEE PES DAY is ‘Powering a Climate Safer Future’. With this theme in mind, we will organize two activities, an academic presentation and an academic salon in Guangzhou, China. Based on the urgent need to address the climate change crisis, in the first activity, Associate Professor Jiehui Zheng from South China University of Technology will give an academic speech about "Energy Flow Calculation and Probability Analysis of Integrated Energy Systems"; in the second activity, four PhD students in the field of power and energy will hold an academic salon.

Consideraciones de un sistema fotovoltaico interconectado a la red

Currently, there is a great trend towards the use of renewable energy sources, such as Photovoltaic Systems. However, it is necessary to consider the implications of using this type of technology since it can involve a large number of factors for the Electrical Grid. In this webinar, you will learn in a generalized manner about the conditions that a common user, a medium voltage consumer, and/or a National Grid operator must take into account. We look forward to seeing you with enthusiasm!

PES RES for kids with pupils of Krosa Model Schools

This event was organised in commemoration of the IEEE PES day which has been running throughout the month of April. The event was planned and organised by Chimezie Egbuna, an ambassador of the PES day and Chinenye Chinyelu a volunteer. The event was organised for 82 pupils of Krosa Model school in amawbia, Anambra state. It aimed to expose pupils aged 12 and below to the importance of renewable energy and how it affects our daily lives, environment, and our existence on the planet Earth. Through this event, i hoped to inspire the next generation to pursue careers in renewable energy and promote sustainable living practices. Overall, the PES Day event's objective was to educate people about the importance of renewable energy in achieving a sustainable future and encourage them to take action to combat climate change.

Greenovation – Ideathon

An ideathon with the theme "Powering a Climate Safer Future" is being conducted by BMSCE IEEE PES & Sensors Council in collaboration with IEEE NNU, IEEE SB AJCE, and IEEE SB SJIT. Rules and Regulations : >The Online Ideathon would proceed in two rounds. >The first round requires the teams to make a presentation on the chosen problem statement. Google forms would be floated across to submit the same. >The PowerPoint Presentation should be clearly elucidating the problem statement and the solution for the same. >The PPT should be relevant to the theme. >The PPT must be submitted before the deadlines. Late submissions will not be accepted. >The best presentations from the first round would be qualified for the second round. >The second round requires the participants to present their idea in front of the judges. >The decision of the judges is final and binding.

PES DAY 2023: MINI WORKSHOP DE ARDUINO

In order to celebrate PES Day 2023, a small arduino workshop was held, during two hours, for members of the chapter, of the branch and also external audience, formed by University Fluminense student’s. A total of 20 people attended the event. The workshop was given by the former president of the chapter, Pedro Henrique Carneiro, having as its target audience students who had not had previous contact with Arduino or contact only through online platforms. During the event, several members of the branch helped and supported the activities. The activities carried out were: - Theoretical foundations on the Arduino and important physics concepts for its operation, through slide presentation; - Presentation of models in tinkercad that would be replicated in arduino later; - Carrying out basic arduino projects, using LEDs and buzzer, which were carried out in groups for the exchange of knowledge among participants; - Small fraternization of the participants with food and drinks in order to provide the greatest rapport.
