Energy Today: Challenges and Prospects for the Future

The Power & Energy Society (PES) Chapter of IEEE NTUA SB, with the support of IEEE Greece Young Professionals, is hosting an event called “Energy Today: Challenges and Prospects for the Future.” This event is aimed at discussing the current developments in the energy sector, coinciding with PES Day 2023. The event will take place on Tuesday, May 2nd, from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Amphitheater in the NTUA Central Computer System Building.

The event will begin with a brief welcome and presentation of the PES Chapter and its activities. Professor C. Vournas, the Chair of PES Greece, will also address the audience. The event will feature two distinct sections.

In the first section, two experts in the field from Schneider-Electric will deliver technical presentations. Alexandros Ntalagiannis, Product Application Engineer, will speak on the following topics: “Closer to the Era of E-mobility” and “The Solution to the Energy Crisis Goes by the Name Microgrid”. Penny Kokkini, Application Engineer, will present on the topic of “Smart and Green Buildings.”

The second section of the event will feature a panel discussion with our school’s professors – Prof. Hatziargyriou, Prof. Papathanassiou and Prof. Papavasiliou- who will discuss topics such as energy efficiency, renewable energy penetration, energy storage, as well as the capacity and adequacy of the Greek network.

Finally, the event will conclude with a networking session and snacks, during which attendees will learn more about the activities of the PES Chapter of IEEE NTUA SB, IEEE Greece Young Professionals, and Schneider Electric.
