Sustainable Energy Summit (SES)
This meet-up session is to take participants through some of the opportunities, challenges, and solutions associated with the integration of renewable energy sources in the smart grid. Participants will have the opportunity to ask our renowned researcher, Engr. Prof. Amevi Acakpovi questions after his presentations on how he has solved some of these challenges. This event is in line with the lifting of the temporary ban imposed by the Energy Commission of Ghana on the wholesale supply of electricity from renewable sources. Engr. Prof. Amevi Acakpovi's expertise in renewable energy is highly sought after, and his insights will be invaluable for anyone interested in the field. Study Visit to Urban Farming and Community Garden@Cyberjaya

Coloring a Climate Safer Future

With the PES DAY 2023 Theme "Powering a Climate Safer Future," this event is aimed to engage young children in the importance of sustainable energy and creating awareness on climate change. As part of the event, this art competition will be held for kids from playgroups to class 1 and encourage them to express their ideas and creativity on this important topic. This event will provide a platform for children to showcase their talent and express their thoughts on the importance of clean energy and its role in creating a safer and more sustainable future for our planet. The event will also include fun activities and games related to energy conservation and sustainability to engage the kids in a fun and interactive way. Overall, PES RES for Kids will be an excellent opportunity for children to learn about sustainable energy and become environmentally conscious at a young age. The event is open to all children, and we look forward to seeing their enthusiastic participation.
Awareness of Renewable Energy Sources for School Kids
The event agendas are as follows:  First, give a presentation on renewable energy resources available around us by IEEE Volunteers (Max. 30-40 minutes)  After that question-and-answer session (Max. 10 minutes)  After that IEEE volunteers provide stationery items (such as Pencil, Color, Drawing sheet, Sharpener, Eraser, Scale and etc.) to kids for the drawing diagram of renewable energy sources as per shows in the presentation (Max. 30-40 minutes)  Once kids complete the drawing then IEEE volunteers will collect the drawing sheets from the kids (Max. 2 minutes)  Then drawing sheets will evaluate by the senior IEEE members and give 1st, 2nd and 3rd ranks based on the drawing performance by kids.  IEEE Volunteers give prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd ranks kids.  For the remaining kids, we will give some gift  Finally, conclude the event with feedback from the kids (Max. 10 minutes).
Power & Energy Technology’s Impact on Climate Change.

Energy consumption: Modern technology requires large amounts of energy to operate, mainly from non-renewable sources such as coal and natural gas. This energy consumption results in increased greenhouse gas emissions, contributing to climate change. 3. Carbon footprint: Technology companies are notorious for their high carbon footprint, mainly due to the energyintensive manufacturing and production processes of electronic devices. Additionally, data centers and servers that support cloud services consume huge amounts of electricity, significantly contributing to CO2 emissions. 4. Air pollution: Technology involves burning fossil fuels, which releases air pollutants that can harm air quality and contribute to acid rain, smog, and other environmental problems. 5. Over-consumption: Technology has made it easier for people to buy more goods and services, leading to overconsumption and waste. For example, online shopping has led to increased demand for shipping and transportation, resulting in more emissions and energy consumption. 6. Depreciation of nature: The heavy use of technology has led to the depersonalization of nature. People spend more time engaging with technology than with nature, leading to a reduction in the value placed on the environment and the biodiversity it sustains. In conclusion, while technology has brought numerous benefits to society, its overuse contributes significantly to climate change. Therefore, it is essential to use technology responsibly and prioritize environmentally-friendly alternatives. Technology can have both positive and negative effects on climate change. On the negative side, technology can contribute to climate change by emitting harmful gases, increasing energy consumption, and accelerating deforestation. However, there are several ways to avoid the negative impact of technology on climate change, such as: 1. Renewable energy sources: Switching to renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydroelectric power can reduce greenhouse gas emissions and prevent the depletion of fossil fuels. 2. Energy-efficient technologies: Using energy-efficient technologies such as LED light bulbs, smart thermostats, and energy-efficient appliances can reduce energy consumption and curb emissions. 3. Green transportation: Opting for electric or hybrid vehicles, using public transport, or cycling can reduce emissions caused by transportation. 4. Sustainable agriculture: Adopting sustainable agriculture practices such as crop rotation, organic farming, and using natural fertilizers can reduce the impact of farming on the environment. 5. Sustainable building design: Incorporating green building practices such as using sustainable building materials, designing energy-efficient buildings, and using renewable energy sources can help reduce the carbon footprint of buildings. 6.
