The theme for IEEE PES Day 2023, “Powering a Climate Safer Future”, highlights the importance of addressing climate change through sustainable energy solutions. The event will focus on promoting renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and hydro power as well as energy efficiency measures. The event aims to raise awareness about the importance of power and energy engineering in creating a sustainable future for all. It also provides a platform for engineers to showcase their work and share their knowledge with others. The event will feature a range of activities including technical talks, workshops, and competitions.

IEEE Uganda Section, Young Professionals PES Day 2023

It was a one day physical event where we(a team of ambassadors) collaborated and invited 3 speakers to the event that talked about renewable energy, how to use the renewable energy in a safer way. We got to know that renewable energy can also be harmful if improperly handled. We discussed the culprits, problems/effects and possible solutions to the existing climate change. We ended the event with a call to action, we implored the attendees to take charge and participate in the contribution to a climate safer future through awareness, planting trees, recycling non decomposable materials like plastics and volunteering in events with a similar call.
